Abstract
The objective: to determine shear wave elastography capabilities in diagnostics of the prostate diseases.
Materials and methods. 118 patients treated in the urology clinic of the NMMCC «MMCH» were included to the survey. Patients were distributed into four groups: group 1 (n=29) – control (conditionally healthy patients), group 2 (n=25) patients with suspicion for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), group 3 (n=31) patients with suspicion for chronic prostatitis, group 4 (n=33) patients with suspicion for prostatic cancer. All patients underwent complex transrectal ultrasound examination by endocavital EC 6,5 MHz/10R probe applying shear wave elastography. Transrectal multifocal biopsy of the prostate by standard 12-points scheme had been performed to the patients of 2, 3, 4 groups. Additional biopsy of the suspicious areas detected by shear wave elastography had been performed.
Results. Elasticity values of the prostate gland tissue established: <29 kPa – normal prostate, 30–39 kPa – benign prostatic hyperplasia, 40–69 kPa – chronic prostatitis, >70 kPa – prostatic cancer. High informativity of shear wave elastography more than 90% in all groups had been noticed.
Conclusion. Ultrasound elastography provides additional information for more precise detection of the prostate diseases and as auxiliary technique for examination of the prostate, supplementing traditional methods: ultrasound and MRI.##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.details##
