Abstract

Given the fact that the germ cell tumors diagnosed in young men of reproductive age (more than half of them are seminomas), the study of the adverse effect of chemotherapy on fertility is an important task. In 18 patients in the I stage of seminoma estimated sperm and FSH lev els prior to the orchidectomy, before chemotherapy with carboplatin and after 1 and 2 years after treatment. Revealed little impact on sperm after adjuvant treatment – after 2 years we watched improved of semen parameters, while reducing the level of FSH. There were no sta tistically significant differences in sperm before and after the orchidec tomy that can be explained by the negative impact of TIN on sper matogenesis in the peritumoral tissue.
